Beauty Review: SAMPAR Glamour Shot Eyes

I attended an Edgars/Redsquare beauty launch in Johannesburg a couple weeks ago; along with some great bloggers from all over the country (I was the only 1 from Durban #boohoo). One of the many new brands launching at Edgars was Sampar. The Parisian skincare brand which is ranked #13 in Europe

Glamour Shot Eyes is the perfect product for anyone who suffers from puffiness, dark circles etc. In 1 minute this product will make you look more awake & almost act as a concealer. I had tried this product at the launch & was instantly impressed. And you know me, anything to help mask my dark circles!

I have since used it at home & I tried it 2 ways; with & without concealer underneath. I find that if used on top of my concealer it created an odd texture under my eye & my eye seemed to look unconcealed. However, without any concealer on I could immediately see a difference. So my suggestion would be not to use it with a liquid concealer underneath.

I am travelling to New York later today & I am absolutely taking this with me. My work literally starts as we land & so I will need a pick me up for my eyes.

SAMPAR Glamour Shot Eyes is sold exclusively at Edgars & retails for R295.

F/W 2013 ber Trend: Plaid

One tiny glimpse at the fall/winter 2013 collections is enough to understand one thing: Grunge is one of the strongest most defining trends for next season. Now don't get me wrong, I still don't know what to make of this infamous Saint Laurent collection by Slimane. Nevertheless it was right on track just as Stella Mc Cartney, Celine, Givenchy and the others.

John Galliano found GUILTY!!!

If you remember my previous post on Racism in Fashion, I spoke a bit about John Galliano who at the time had just been  accused of anti-semetic behaviour. He had been fired from Dior, and even his own label John Galliano. Well, today a Paris court convicted former Christian Dior designer John Galliano of making anti-Semitic insults in a bar but gave him only a suspended sentence, taking into account his apology to the victims. Galliano, who didn't attend the announcement of the verdict, was given no prison time. He was given a suspended 6,000 ($8,400) fine, which means it goes on his criminal record but he does not have to pay it. He was, however, ordered to pay 16,500 ($23,200)in court fees for the complainants three individuals and five anti-racism associations plus a symbolic 1 ($1.40) in damages to each one.

What do you think of that? Do you think that was a fair verdict?

Personally, I think his behaviour was just disgusting. I watched the videos of his outburst and I was appalled. But at the same time, I think he has paid for his crimes in many ways. He has lost his name in fashion. Who knows if he will ever be able to come back from this. So perhaps that in itself is punishment enough.

Loving SHE Beachwear!!!

I love swimwear, and as an aspiring swimwear designer, I am always looking to other swimwear & beachwear brands I feel I can relate to. I love looking at ad campaigns. I can spend hours just looking at the different locations & concepts used to advertise swimwear. Because that's the thing, most designers & big brands do the usual, expected approach to advertising swimwear. That being on the beach, on a yatch, or poolside-. But then there are others who give a whole new spin to things. Shooting in weird & wonderful places like abandoned buildings, Mayan Ruins, and like SHE Beachwear, PARIS!

I love their 2011 collections. Today I will show you pictures from their 2011 PARI PARI Collection. The collection was modelled by Camila Morais.

So what do you think? Are you as impressed as I am?

Summer 2011 Wardrobe Essentials

Below you will find all the essential wardrobe items to keep you looking chic this Summer. These trends were seen on the catwalks of Paris, New York, London and Milan.

The Capri
The Capri trend was seen in various collections, including Paul Smith, Tibi, Balenciaga, and Vivienne Westwood.

Crochet
The crochet trend can be found on various clothing items such as dresses, tops and swimsuits. This trend was seen in the collections of Jen Kao, Emilio Pucci, Julien MacDonald, and Ralph Lauren. I love this trend as it can be worn in many ways as seen below.

The Floral Maxi
A maxi dress is always a must-have item for summer. However, this time its the floral maxi that has everyone going gaga. A large part of the Spring/Summer 2011 Dolce and Gabbana collection consisted of floral maxi dresses. It did, however, also feature in the collections of Alberta Ferreti, Erdem, and Matthew Williamson. I love this look. It screams Summer Chic.

The Jumpsuit
Well the jumpsuit is proving to be a popular item for yet another season. Please note this is not suitable for every body type, but if you find a silhouette and style that suits you, then go for it. The jumpsuit was all the rage in the collections of Marc Jacobs, Derek Lam, Dolce & Gabbana, A Detacher, Sonia Rykiel, and Oscar de la Renta.

The Shirt Dress
The shirt dress is back, but is taking a slightly different shape. This is not exactly my favourite trend, but it does work for some. A large part of the Viktor & Rolf collection were shirt dresses. They also featured in the collections of Paul Smith, Lanvin, and Roland Mouret.

The Short
Summer is all about the short. However, it is up to you to use your discretion in establishing How short is too short? The short was featured in the Spring Summer collections of many designers, including Gucci, Dior, Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg, Balmain, and Tommy Hilfiger. This is by far my favourite summer trend. Ill be wearing shorts all summer long.

Stripes
With the return of the Nautical trend, comes the stripe. Stripes was featured in collections by Jil Sander, Prada, Vivienne Westwood, Wunderkind, and Tsumori Chisato. Just be careful when doing stripes head-to-toe, you dont want to be mistaken for a zebra.

White Lace Dress
This falls in line with the Romance trend this summer. And romantic it is. White Lace dresses were featured in the collections of Diane von Furstenberg, Dolce & Gabbana, Alberta Ferreti, Alexander McQueen, and Oscar de la Renta.

Wide Leg Pants
Wide leg pants are flattering for most, but those who are height challenged should beware. Wide leg pants were featured in collections by Hermes, Marc Jacobs, Cerruti, and Dior.

Alexander McQueen's Last Collection

His last collection was very theatrical and full of historical references as usual. Although the future of the brand is uncertain now that he's gone, the one thing we may be sure of is that he will not be forgotten any time soon.
