Beauty Review: Skin Repbulic Neck & Decolletage Repair

Skin Republic sent me this Neck & Dcolletage Anti-Aging Treatment a little while ago, & I only just tried it this week! I usually take very good care of my skin but I must admit that I never really pay attention to my dcolletage area. Well not special attention at least.

Ok so let me tell you a bit about this treatment.

This is a 20 minute treatment where by you place a mask over you neck & dcolletage area. The mask is something like a wet-wipe, except it has all sorts of ingredients in it like Vitamin C & E, Aloe, Green Tea, Witch Hazel, & Marine Collagen.

As this is an anti-aging treatment, it aims to improve tone & elasticity in this ever so delicate area. It is also said to visibly lift your skin, as well as reduce the appearance of freckles & age spots.

Now while I am quite young, I don't usually use anti-aging products, and so I cannot comment on that aspect of the treatment, however, I can tell you about my experience with it.

I loved how moisturized my dcolletage area was after usage. As I mentioned before, I don't pay any special to this area of my body so this was a treat. The skin was also very soft & supple, with a glow. Like that feeling after you leave an amazing facial?! Well like a facial except just for my neck & dcolletage lol.

Most products will not give you instant results with regard to anti-aging, however with continuous usage you may start to see a real improvement in the elasticity & tone of your skin.

If you would like more info on this product & other Skin Republic products click here.

And if you would like to purchase this product, try your nearest Clicks, Edgars, Red Square & Dis-Chem. And if you're an online junkie like me, click here.

Have you tried it? Let me know what you think :)

Beauty Review: SAMPAR Glamour Shot Eyes

I attended an Edgars/Redsquare beauty launch in Johannesburg a couple weeks ago; along with some great bloggers from all over the country (I was the only 1 from Durban #boohoo). One of the many new brands launching at Edgars was Sampar. The Parisian skincare brand which is ranked #13 in Europe

Glamour Shot Eyes is the perfect product for anyone who suffers from puffiness, dark circles etc. In 1 minute this product will make you look more awake & almost act as a concealer. I had tried this product at the launch & was instantly impressed. And you know me, anything to help mask my dark circles!

I have since used it at home & I tried it 2 ways; with & without concealer underneath. I find that if used on top of my concealer it created an odd texture under my eye & my eye seemed to look unconcealed. However, without any concealer on I could immediately see a difference. So my suggestion would be not to use it with a liquid concealer underneath.

I am travelling to New York later today & I am absolutely taking this with me. My work literally starts as we land & so I will need a pick me up for my eyes.

SAMPAR Glamour Shot Eyes is sold exclusively at Edgars & retails for R295.

Beauty Review: Ponds BB Cream

When it comes to BB Cream -  I am a self-confessed addict! I have tried a few, & for me what determines whether I will use a BB Cream again are a few different things:
- What is the coverage like?
- Is it too heavy, or light & breathable?
- Does it leave my skin looking oily? Do I HAVE TO wear powder?
- Does it cover my dark circles decently?

The Ponds BB Cream did not disappoint me at all. The coverage is like that of a tinted moisturizer. It is light & leaves my skin looking natural but still covers up my uneven skin-tone. It has a SPF of 30 - which is great! Although I do use an SPF 50 moisturizer on a daily basis. My skin was not oily, which is awesome. So, all i really needed to add was my concealer. Good right?

Overall I enjoy this BB Cream. It's a great product & only costs R89.99 so it's great value for money.

GOSH Cosmetics Review

Today I review a few GOSH Cosmetics products that landed on my desk. I am going to tell you a bit about my experience using the BB Cream, Waterproof Eye Shadow, Intense Lip Colour, & the Long Lasting Eye Liner Pen.  GOSH is stocked in Edgars & Red Square stores nationwide.  If you want to see more of what GOSH has to offer, click here.

GOSH BB Cream
I love BB Creams, & have been trying quite a few. This BB is SPF 15, & can also be used as a foundation primer. I use the 02 Beige color. It is not oily, & I didn't have to use powder with it. I still had to make sure I used concealer with it as it didn't cover my dark circles, although most BB Creams wouldn't.

GOSH Mineral Waterproof Eye Shadow
This is in the 003 Brown which I love! I love natural eye shadow colors. It is a cream shadow so there is no fall-out which is always good. It blends well.

GOSH Intense Lip Colour
This is in the 306 shade, which is a rich red color. It is a highly pigmented gloss, & I absolutely love that this comes with a light on the applicator which is a great for when you are out. I would suggest you use a lip liner with it as it does bleed out a bit.

GOSH Long Lasting Eye Liner Pen
Colour is 001 Green. My fav thing about this liner is the applicator pen. I always prefer a pen appliactor as it is easier to apply. The liner is a dark green colour with a slight shimmer, but is subtle enough that you can use it in the day time. It is a great alternative to black liner.

Beauty Review: Stila IN THE LIGHT Palette

The Stila palettes have had everybody raving about them & had me feeling MAJOR FOMO! I started asking EVERYONE on twitter & Facebook which of the palettes they had or preferred. The most common answer was the IN THE LIGHT palette. And now that i have it, I can absolutely understand why. While the other palettes are all great with a beautiful range of colors, this is by far the most wearable & "universally friendly" palette. I can easily see women with of all skintones using the colours in this palette. It is a great mix of shimmer & matte eye shadows. And let's not forget taht it comes with a smudge stick eye liner in the shade Damsel. 10 eyeshadow colours you are sure to use is a bargain at R399 -  you can purchase it via Style36 here - where I might add you receive a FREE make-up bag & 3 Lip Glazes when you spend R450 or more.

This palette is great for when you are travelling as it has 10 shades that can create many looks. When I travel next this is sure to come with me! I will be posting a YOUTUBE video on the different looks you can create using this Stila In The Light palette. Sound good? Well be on the look for it :)

For now, if you want to see each of the beautiful colours included in this palette, be sure to click READ MORE below :)

Kiehl's "Change Your Skin" Challenge

In case you didn't know, I am 1 of 4 SA bloggers involved in the Kiehl's CHANGE YOUR SKIN Challenge. And what is this? Well, Kiehl's has challenged us to a 28 Day Challenge where we document the change we see in our skin everyday while using the Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I love this idea, because you as my reader can see exactly how my skin is reacting to the product. And I get that not all skin types are the same, & that's why I have chosen 5 of my followers to join me on this journey. We will be tweeting & facebooking, & I will definitely be doing a few videos too.

Although they have been in South Africa for less than a year - Kiehls has in fact been around for 161 years!! Yes that is correct. Founded in the New York East Village back in 1851, Kiehl's has always been dedicated to high service standards & developing quality formulations. What i love about Kiehl's is that they offer their customers a "Try Before You Buy" sampling program, giving their customer the opportunity to trial a product before actually making a purchase.

From what I have heard, the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate is flying off shelves here in South Africa! This gives me the sneaky suspiscion that it is amazing, & I am super excited to trial it.

Kiehl's Midnight Repair Concentrate is a lightweight repair treatment.
  • Regenerates, repairs, and replenishes skin for smoother, healthier skin
  • Works with the skins natural nocturnal activity -when skin is most receptive to repairing itself from daily aggressors - to dramatically restore skin
  • 99.8% naturally-derived and paraben-free
  • A customer favorite

I cannot wait to share my journey as well as that of my readers with you all.
If you have tried this product do let me know what your thoughts are.

xx
Brett

Beauty Review: TOPSHOP Nails & Lipstick

YAY!! Finally sharing with you what I thought of the Topshop nail polish & lipstick I bought a few weeks ago! Now I know that you have all seen the lipstick worn sooooo much, but that is just how much I love it!

Below are some of my thoughts, but please do watch the video :)

Name: TIDAL
Price: R69.99 - very reasonable.
Colour: Pale blue. Kinda looks a bit grey, but it is not.
Quality: Long lasting. Doesn't chip easy.
Removal: Easy to come off. Doesn't require a base coat.

Name: Rumours & Lies
Price: R79.99 - very reasonable.
Colour: Burgundy. Got lots of compliments on this colour.
Quality: Long lasting. Doesn't chip easy.
Removal: Used about 8 cotton pads for both hands. Definitely requires a base coat. Nails were stained.

Name: Pillar Box
Price: R69.99 - very reasonable.
Colour: Red. Love love love!
Quality: Long lasting. Doesn't chip easy.
Removal: Same as burgundy. Lots of cotton pads used. Needs a base coat.

I absolutely love this lippie like you have no idea! It is a matte purple-burgundy colour "Inhibition" that is just delicious! It costs R119 which I think isn't the cheapest, but is is so worth it! I would buy this over MAC. Love!!!

Salon Review: GlamCo Umhlanga

My life is busy. I work as full time ladies wear designer.  I am a blogger. And I write for 2 different online platforms.  I dont get the time to get pampered. And lets not get into making appointments for beauty treatments! Thats the absolute worst.

Let me give you some background on my usual routine. I wash & straighten my own hair once a week. I seldom get my nails done; I am pretty much a plain paint kind of girl. And I know my make-up so I never get anyone else to do it unless its for a specific photo shoot or something like that. So, when I was invited to GlamCo Umhlanga to have my hair, nails, & make-up done I thought it might be cool to have someone else do all those things for me for a change.

Im not sure what I expected before going to GlamCo, but it was a lovely & warm.  I love an environment where I can instantly feel relaxed. I usually take quite a while to warm up to people, but it was surprisingly easy. The salon in owned by a young couple & the staff too are all quite young. I just love it when I see young people like myself who are so business-minded & eager to succeed in life. It takes a huge amount of discipline to be in your early twenties running your own business. I can relate to that. My blog is my business & I know that its not always easy. But we do it because we strive for success.

The owners of GlamCo & me!

Now let me tell you about my day! The salon itself was intimate, but not small. There is enough space to have a few women having the hair done, about 2 people having nails done at the same time, & someone in the beauty room too. I quite like that. And it seems that is exactly what the owners want. Intimacy. Interacting with customers on a one on one basis. Knowing them by name. None of that commercial Get in & get out that you may experience at a bigger salon.

Nails:
First up I had my nails done. I opted for black gel nails. Not my first time having a gel paint done, but very unusual for me. I love the look of black nail polish & was loving the black gel. Looked fab! The only down side to my mani, was that it was just a paint. I always prefer to have a full on manicure, hand massage & all unless I am doing it at home of course. Personal preference perhaps.

Hair:
I had my hair coloured black (as usual). My roots were my very odd brown natural hair colour before that. I love the look of black hair in winter. Its tres hot in my opinion. I also had some extensions done. What I loved most about the extensions was that they looked natural & made my hair look so lovely & thick. And the ghd curls were fab too. I wish I had enough time to do curls like that everyday. The hairdresser Jenae didnt use much hairspray, but the curls lasted until the next day, even after I slept!

Make-Up:
I am super fussy when it comes to make-up. Personal branding is so important when youre a blogger. Having someone do anything to my face is not something I take lightly lol. Anyway, we opted for a simple look. Red lips as usual not my usual Rimmel Alarm 107, but instead a colour that was a bit lighter & brighter (not sure of brand or colour).  I wasnt the hugest fan of the make-up, I think my everyday make-up is more me. More polished & not so basic.

***

Overall I would say I had a good day at Glamco Umhlanga. They do offer other services like Waxing, Facials, massages etc.  If you want to try them out you can expect a friendly, warm environment & reasonable pricing.
