Would you wear a Denim Vest?

The denim vest trend was popular on the runways last season and is making a statement on the streets this season, with the likes of Kim Kardashian & Ciara wearing them. Since a denim vest is typically an edgy, unexpected piece, you can wear it to toughen up any outfit. In addition, a studded or worn-in denim vest can also create great contrast when paired with a cute summer dress.

Personally, I love this trend for its versatility after all, denim goes with everything. Also, there are so many options available: If you arent a fan of light denim or studs, you can easily find black or white denim vests! Theres truly a style of denim vest out there for everyone.

Loving 'House of GLAM'

It's as if my prayers were answered in the form of the hit reality television show House of GLAM! Fashionistas everywhere should be watching this show about a group of wardrobe stylists, hair stylists, & make-up artists as they WoW you from one celebrity to the next!

The entire cast of the show are all very talented individuals, but my favourite by far has got to be Crystal. She is a true trendsetter, & a jack of all trades. She is a stylist, costume designer, artist & jewellery designer.

If you haven't watched as yet, do so, I promise you won't be disappointed. The show only recently started airing in South Africa on VUZUtv, but if you are elsewhere, I'm not sure when or on what channel you can catch this reality TV breathe of fresh air :)

Gianfranco Ferre Drawings

Welcome to the whimsical, exotic world of this iconic Italian designer with a new book of his fashion sketches

Its not always immediately obvious that the dynamic sketches of Gianfranco Ferr are fashion designs: his flickering, darting pen lines and swirls of bright colour could almost be the work of an architect or abstract expressionist. The spidery figures that stalk through the pages of his sketchbooks, rendered in swooping dynamic lines, are like something from a Vorticist canvas.

Ferr passed away in 2007 after 50 years setting the golden standard for Italian style. Known as the architect of fashion, he was originally poised to design buildings rather than clothing and studied architecture at the Politecnico di Milano. A new book, Gianfranco Ferr Drawings, shows we should be grateful for his decision to swap columns for couture, as his fantastical fashion drawings are collated for the first time in print.

I think this book would make for a great purchase for yourself, or even as a gift for anyone who appreciates fashion & art.  Enjoy!

Camilla Skovgaard SHOES!!!

Camilla Skovgaard graduated in 2003 with a First Class Honours degree in Footwear Design, Marketing and Product Development from the acclaimed Cordwainers College, alma mater of Jimmy Choo and Patrick Cox, in London UK.  Prior to formal training as a cobbler Camilla worked in the Gulf Arab luxury market for seven years designing couture garments for the Sheikh families.

Camilla Skovgaard is driven by style and form aesthetics rather than short-lived fashion trends and reckons good design to be nearly invisible to the naked eye because it is judged on how it feels, how it fits, how it makes you move, it is attributes such as these that define Camilla Skovgaard.

Loving Lara Bohinc!!!

I'm really doubting my magazine reading skills right now lol. Designer Lara Bohinc has been featured in my favourite magazines on numerous occasions, & I am only seeing her work now! Originally a jewellery designer, Lara decided to branch out into shoes. Basing her first shoe collection on her unique jewellery.

I absolutely love her work, both jewellery & shoes. She uses materials such as leather, suede, & python. And who doesn't love them some 11cm heels!! Lara Bohinc is truly a multi-talented designer.

One Fine Sunday

After a busy week, what could be better than a very chilled Sunday afternoon accompanied by some nice jazzy tunes.
LOLA, one of my favorite pop jazz band who performed at Sunday Jazz Bandung. I think they are really passionate into music and you can just feel it while watching them play.

Listen to more of their music here and follow them on Twitter.

Marchesa Playboy Bunny Costume Design*

If you saw my previous post on Marchesa releasing the sketch of what they had planned for the iconic Playboy Bunny costume, I can imagine you were just as excited to see the real thing. Well here it is! And might I add, I am not at all disappointed. The ccreation of  Georgina Chapman & Keren Craig was debuted at London's Playboy Club. I love the lace & beading on this strapless bodysuit. It really adds some dimension & drama to it. The outfit will be auctioned off for charity later this year.

So what do you think of the final product? Please do comment below & let me know.

Wooden watches??? Yes Please*

My boyfriend was quite excited about a website with wooden watches.  I saw the website & I was quite impressed. The watches don't really even look wooden. Its quite cool. He ordered his watch, & it arrived a day later (free delivery in South Africa). The picture did not do it justice. It's even better in reality. And so lightweight! Its like you are wearing nothing.

This is the watch my boyfriend purchased.

What's even better about WeWood is that they plant a tree for every watch purchased. So you will be doing your bit for the environment too. Considering the fact that it cost only R950, & the fact that its Eco-friendly, I think all you guys should get yourself one.

Visit WeWood for more info.

CreateShake: Wedding Dress Designer APP

OK so we know I love playing with any app that is fun, girly, & has anything to do with fashion. This app is fab. I love love love it. I only discovered it a few days ago, so I'm still just getting used to it, but it is quite straight forward. You are creating a wedding dress, complete with the backdrop, and flowers. Its really fun, and for soon-to-be brides out there, it might be a fun way to play around with dress ideas.

Here are some of the dresses i have created.

After loving this app so much, I wanted to see what other app the creators have created. I found the CreateShake: Wedding Cake app. Yes, not so much fashion, but still fun :)

These Apps are available on iTunes for iPhone/iPod Touch. Have fun, & don't forget to follow this blog with the Google 'Follow' button or via Bloglovin', all in the right sidebar of the blog. xoxo
