How to wear the Denim Shirt*

I am absolutely loving the denim shirt right now. It's so versatile, & there are so many different styles available. I just got a great longer length denim shirt that I intend wearing with my other favourite thing..leggings! I found myself thinking, how else will I wear this shirt... And I imagine many of you bought the shirt thinking you are gonna make it your must-have item etc. But do you really know how to put great looks together with your denim shirt?

I tried this look a few weeks ago with a dark wash denim shirt. I paired it with a floral skirt & boots. I think I looked pretty good. What do you think?

Here are some other looks I put together for you & your denim shirt.

I really like this look, & i see myself wearing my new denim shirt mostly this way. Leggings are the perfect match for a longer length denim shirt. If you follow this blog, you would've seen my post on How to wear a shirt over Leggings. And if you didn't, well i stressed that your butt should be covered by your top, as you can see below.

The next look is a great casual look. I paired the denim shirt with a pair of shorts & a top similar in colour to the denim shirt. I loved that this shirt was quite washed out. Denim does not necessarily mean blue*

This look below is very similar to my look above, except this is a dress. I think this look can be worn to college, the mall, a party, anywhere really. This is quite casual, but with different accessories it can really be dressed up.

The look below is a little more dressy than the ones above. I paired the fitted denim shirt with a matte, sequins skirt. I added some colour with the shoes & belt. This could be a good work look. Obviously depending on the kind of environment you work in :)?

My last look is the denim shirt paired with a pair of black skinny pants. This is another look that can be dressed up or down. Swapping the heels for flats will take you from smart casual to casual chic. Love the pop of colour in the bag, top, & shoes. And who doesn't love Armani sunglasses?!

I hope this was helpful to you. Have fun wearing your denim shirts*

What A Revival Night!

My last Friday was ended with me attending CLARA 360Revival Night Lights at The Tent, South Lobby, Pacific Place Mall. It was a really fun and flattering night, seeing awesome collection by our young talented local designers, such as Andreas Odang, KLE, and Tex Saverio, and also enjoying some delicious drinks and foods served by Magnum while catching up with other bloggers.

with Samuel Mulia, one of Indonesian fashion icons and CLARA Magazine's Editorial Consultant
Even more, before the show was started, we got to check out the backstage. They actually already impressed me, couldn't even hold my excitement to see them more on runways.

And, this absolutely amazing 'chocolate' dress (below picture) was especially made by a talented young designer Andreas Odang in a stunning collaboration with Magnum Ice Cream.

Now, let's unveiled the latest inspiring collection by our young talented local designers, Andreas Odang, KLE, and Tex Saverio.

I was totally amazed by Tex Saverio's collection.
Breathtaking!

My Liebster Blog Award!!!

I was taken by surprise when I received this fab award from my fellow fashion blogger Caramellitsa :) I absolutely love her blog. Its all fashion, great photographs, and fab style. And I am so honoured that she thinks my blog is worthy of the Liebster Award.

The Liebster Award is designed to bring well deserved additional recognition to those bloggers with less than 300 followers. If you receive the award you link back to the blogger that nominated you and nominate 3 more blogs.

I decided to choose these 3 blogs, as they are among my favourites. I visit them on a regular basis, and so should you*

I really hope you visit these blogs. You will definitely enjoy them*

Sharing is caring, even in fashion!

One of the things I am enjoying most about my classes on Fashion Entrepreneurship are the people. To be sitting in a room with people from various areas of fashion, of many age groups, & different life experiences has been truly amazing. I am surrounded by a wealth of knowledge. Everyone is so eager to share their experiences & dilemmas, and its so cool how we can all relate to it, and understand what its about. And even we haven't been in that situation, we take away that lesson, and know what not to do.

I cannot speak for the international fashion industry, but I can speak from my experiences here in South Africa. I have encountered people, designers who are just not willing to help or even give advice to other people starting up in the industry. And yes, I do not believe that they have to do anything for me or anyone else, but at least send an email saying "NO!" It common decency, you know. And this is what I believed most people in fashion to be like until I started the Fashion entrepreneurship classes.

I have been so interested in designing swimwear for quite a while now, but I honestly didn't know much about it. I had tried on numerous occasions to make contact with a swimwear designer here in Durban in the hopes for an internship or any sort of advice really, and nothing. No phone calls returned. No emails. Not even a facebook message. But you know what, its OK. I Googled. I watched youtube videos. And I am lucky enough to have a swimwear designer in my class every Saturday afternoon. To her its a few random tips, but to me, its some of the best words of advice Iv received, ever! And now, I am practising, trying to understand & perfect designing swimwear. And I am loving it!

So yes, for me its a happy ending, I am surrounded by people who are eager to share & help. But what about the people who not have the opportunity to be learning alongside these creative geniuses? I thinks its really sad that some people who have 'made it' just don't care to help or advise the next person. Maybe its just me, but I honestly believe that there is enough business out there for everyone. In 2007, South African design icon Gavin Rajah mentored David Tlale & a few other young talents. And today, David Tlale is one of South Africa's biggest designers. But so is Gavin Rajah. And had Gavin Rajah not helped him along, Tlale may not be where he is today.

So, if you can help someone in your industry, do it. You really never know how you may be affecting that person's life.

Marchesa teams up with Playboy*

Marchesa and Playboy may not seem like an obvious match, but designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig insist that the union made instant sense to them. From what I saw of the sketch for the bunny costume design, I thinks its going to be amazing!

In an interview with Vogue UK, Chapman said, "We were approached and were immediately intrigued by the opportunity. The Playboy Bunny costume is one of fashion and pop culture's most iconic emblems. We were excited to design our own interpretation in celebration of the Playboy Club's reopening. The Playboy brand is about fantasy and escapism, which are elements embodied in our Marchesa collections."

The Marchesa interpretation of the bunny costume was created in honour of  the opening of the Playboy Club in London later this year and, although it is intended as a one off show piece rather than a costume to be worn by the club's new bunnies, the designers had some Bunnies in mind when creating it. Following the launch on May 26, the costume will be will be auctioned to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Feel The Summer Hip

Naturally loved the latest collection from Mango, Guess, La Senza, Marks & Spencer, Mossimo Dutti, Lacoste, Topshop, and ZARA, which loaded with more touch of earth tone and color-blocking.

Also at the same day, got the chance to preview La Senza's all new Body Kiss collection.
For girls who have been looking for a comfortable bra, you'll love it! Added with cushioned underwire casing, no dig and no poke. It just kisses the body perfectly, even more you will forget you're wearing one.
Click through and like their Facebook fan page here.

And, yes, it's definitely hip to be colorful.
