If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
03 If I Die Young 90 by bigmachinelabelgroup
?I know the music video for The Band Perry's "If I die young" has been out for a while now, but I only recently saw it. And when I did, I immediately fell in love with it. I love the song, there is something so morbidly poetic about the lyrics. I find a subtle and symbolic beauty in the verses that at times display a confidence in God, being grateful for the time you were given on earth and not wanting the people you love and care about to suffer in misery after you are gone.
This music video is just so sweet. You may find that weird, but I really do love the way lead singer Kimberly is dressed so sweet & innocent in true country music fashion. If you haven't seen the video here is a summary of what happens: In the video, the band's lead singer, Kimberly Perry, is shown alternately singing to the camera and lying in a boat that is being pushed down stream by her brothers Neil and Reid. As she floats, she carries a book of Tennyson's poems. Toward the end of the video, the book of poems is shown lying open to The Lady of Shallot. In brief, the poem describes a woman who lives in a tower, living a solitary life except for the people of Camelot whom she is only able to view as images in a mirror. She is unable to look directly out her window due to a curse upon her. In essence, she isn't really living life to the fullest, but seeing only shadows of what life could be.
The Band Perry's song also speaks of their belief that no matter how much time we have on earth, it should be spent truly enjoying life and appreciating the moments that we do have. So let's do exactly that. Make the most of everything you are blessed with. We don't know when our time here is up.
Kisses*
